Frequently asked questions about counselling What is Counselling?A relationship freely entered into by a person who becomes the client, with another person, the counsellor/therapist who the client believes has the necessary skills to help with the concerns the client has in his or her life. The counselling is confidential and is held within the context of creating an environment in which the client feels safe.
How to start You can telephone me, or we can exchange emails to arrange a meeting. I am willing to offer an affordable introductory session, during which we can reach an agreement to continue meeting and enter into a therapeutic relationship through a series of counselling sessions. The sessions usually last for 50 minutes and continue over a period of time until either one of us feels the process has reached a conclusion.
How often will I have to come? The client's choice, a session once a week is helpful although more frequently can be offered.
For how long?Usually an informal contract for six weeks that is reviewed at the fifth week
What Benefits can be Expected? The client can expect to gain new tools to help him or her move forward in life. This can be achieved through an empathic connection that empowers the client to gain new insights into how they are in the world and their relationship with others. New understandings can be reached into the human condition and the relationships we experience with others, even if they have died or moved away from us.
How much will it cost?My rate is on a sliding scale and I am willing to take into consideration low income or other needs
